Hearings in felony cases at the Williamson County Justice Center in Georgetown have been restricted to pleas, emergency hearings and bail hearings, according to a court order issued Tuesday evening.

The order, signed by three district judges, also said that beginning March 30 all felony hearings will be conducted on an electronic basis.

“In the face of the COVID-19 disaster, the Williamson County Judiciary is focused on providing continuity of justice,” said Williamson County 26th District Judge Donna King, one of the judges who signed the order.

“Our order does not close the courthouse,” she added.

“While we are taking all necessary precautions to practice social distancing in compliance with the Stay Home, Stay Safe Order issued today, the Williamson County District Courts and County Courts at Law have procedures in place, and are prepared to handle essential and emergency hearings remotely as necessary.”
