Williamson County reported two new coronavirus deaths and an increase of 376 coronavirus cases since Friday. The total number of confirmed cases in the county on Monday was 11,935.

The total number of cases includes 162 deaths and an estimated 11,208 recoveries. The county reported 63 people were in the hospital for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The 376 new confirmed cases include 131 cases on Friday and 147 cases on Saturday. They also include 98 cases on Sunday.

On average, the week of Nov. 16-22 saw 16.57 cases per every 100,000 people, according to a report from the Williamson County and Cities Health District on Monday. It was a significant jump from the previous week’s average, which was 11.15 per every 100,000.

The health district also said in its report that it was “extremely concerned about the rapid increase in cases and hospitalizations, and the potential strain placed on our health care system.”

“We are working with emergency management and hospital partners to address critical staff shortages,” the report said. “It is imperative at this time that we have ’all hands on deck’ to strictly enforce any mitigation measures permitted under Governor Abbott’s orders, including capacity limitations, mask and distancing enforcement, and isolation/quarantine procedures.”

Round Rock has had the most confirmed cases in the county on Monday with 3,564, and 3,410 estimated recoveries.

Georgetown had the second-highest number of confirmed cases with 2,228 and 2,093 estimated recoveries.

The county reported 161,778 tests done as of Monday or 27.64% of the population with a rolling seven-day average positivity rate of 6.75%. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified coronavirus hotspots as areas with a positivity rate of 5% or higher.

The Williamson County and Cities Health District has moved the county to its red stage which means there is an uncontrollable risk of community transmission of coronavirus.
