Williamson County reported its 23rd death from a known coronavirus case on Friday. The county also reported eight new cases of confirmed coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 596.

The person who died was a man in his 70s, county officials said.

Because of privacy protection, Williamson County is unable to release any additional patient information.

“Our hearts are with the family who lost their loved one due to this deadly disease. As the state and the County continue the process of reopening businesses to the public, we must remain vigilant and take every measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Remember not doing so could result in more precious lives lost,” Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said.

A total of 365 people have recovered from known coronavirus in the county.

Additional deaths and cases from COVID-19, the disease linked to the coronavirus, will be reported on the online dashboard at wcchd.org/COVID-19/dashboard.php. The dashboard is updated daily just past noon.

Anyone with symptoms of respiratory illness, including cough, fever and shortness of breath, should contact their health care provider. It is important to call ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential spread.
