A seventh person has died in Williamson County as a result of COVID-19, the disease linked to the coronavirus, health officials said Tuesday.

The county’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases remains at 287, the Williamson County and Cities Health District said.

Eight patients are currently hospitalized and 155 people have recovered so far, officials said.

The seventh patient who died was a woman in her 60s. Because of privacy protection laws, the Williamson County and Cities Health District did not release any additional information about her.

“As joyful as I am that we are beginning to open up Williamson County at the end of this week, we are again reminded of the seriousness of this disease,” Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a statement. ”Today, we lost another resident of our Williamson County. My prayers are with her family.”

More COVID-19 information can be found at wcchd.org/COVID-19/dashboard.php. The coronavirus data dashboard is updated daily just past noon.

Contact your health care provider if you have symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough, fever and shortness of breath. Avoid potential spread by calling ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency room.
