The University of Texas, St. Edward’s University, Austin Community College and Concordia University on Friday canceled all classes and operations as the threat of the new coronavirus grows in the region.
The schools are limiting campus to essential personnel only on Friday. All three start spring break next week, with UT and ACC extending their breaks for an extra week to prepare for online course delivery and other social distancing practices. Likewise, when St. Edward’s students return from break on March 23, all courses will be delivered online.
Earlier Friday, the Austin school district also canceled classes and its offices within hours after Austin health officials announced two local cases of COVID-19, the illness linked to the new coronavirus.
