Westbound U.S. 290 is shut down in South Austin after drivers noticed a person lying in the road, Austin police said.
Police, who responded at 12:12 p.m., are investigating whether a crash occurred. The person was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said.
At 1 p.m., police said they plan to reopen the road soon.
