Friday forecast for Austin: Happy Friday, Central Texas!

We made it through another week of social distancing and isolating at home! To celebrate, Mother Nature has gifted us with sunshine and summer-like temperatures.

Skies will be sunny throughout the day as temperatures rise to a high of 96 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

Friday could break the current high temperature record for April 24 in Austin. The record is 96 degrees and was set in 2003, according to climate data.

The day’s high is also way above normal as temperatures typically peak at 82 degrees on April 24, according to climate data.

South-southwest winds blowing 5 to 15 mph during the day could have gusts as high as 20 mph.

Skies will be mostly clear at night with a low temperature of 61 degrees, forecasters said.

Here’s a look at the weekend, according to the weather service’s extended forecast:

Saturday: Sunny with a high near 82. Mostly clear at night with a low around 56.

Sunday: Sunny with a high near 84. Mostly clear at night with a low around 61.

Monday: Partly sunny with a high near 87. Mostly cloudy at night with a low around 70.

Tuesday: Partly sunny with a high near 90. Partly cloudy at night with a 20% chance of rain after 8 p.m. and a low around 69.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a 20% chance of rain and a high near 88. Partly cloudy at night with a 20% chance of rain and a low around 62.

Thursday: Partly sunny with a high near 86.
