The City of Taylor has adopted a new phased-in plan for reopening city facilities that will go into effect on Wednesday.

The public library will be partially reopened on Wednesday under the city’s phase yellow precautions, a city news release said. Social gatherings in the city of up to 25 people will also be allowed and several park facilities that had previously been closed will open, the release said.

It also said events at city facilities will be allowed with limited capacity if event organizers submit a safety plan acceptable to the city and follow University Interscholastic rules where applicable.

If the city does not sustain for 14 days the mitigation criteria outlined in the plan for phase yellow, all activities will revert back to phase orange, the release said.

Taylor has been in the orange level for the past several months, with tight restrictions on social gatherings, facility openings, and indoor and outdoor event.

“The color-coded plan has four phases, ranging in severity from uncontrolled community spread (red) to minimal community transmission (green),” the release said.

Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell said the virus is still prevalent and affecting vulnerable populations.

“We have to balance everyone’s desire to get back to some sense of normalcy with the health and safety of our community,” he said.

To see the phased reopening guidance and current information, please visit the City’s website at taylortx.gov and follow the City’s social media accounts. You can also find the current phase of reopening on the Williamson County and Cities Health District website at wcchd.org/covid-19.
