Saturday forecast for Austin: If rain is what you want, you’re in the right place.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for wet and mildly breezy conditions all day, with 100% chance of rain and northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph. The high temperature is expected to be at or near 60 degrees.
The possibility of a thunderstorm continues through 9 p.m., with rainfall amounts likely to taper off overnight as skies gradually become clear. Expect an overnight low of around 43, with north-northwest winds of 10 mph to gusts of 20 mph.
Rainfall accumulations may reach a half to three-quarters of an inch during the day, with another quarter to half of an inch possible in the evening.
Next week may bring an overnight freeze on Monday, according to the weather service’s extended forecast:
Sunday: Mostly sunny; high near 61. North-northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts to 25 mph. Mostly clear at night, with a low around 38. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts to 20 mph.
Monday: Sunny; high near 53. North wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts to 20 mph. Mostly clear overnight and calmer winds, with a low around 29.
Tuesday: Sunny; high near 58. Partly cloudy in the evening with a low around 39.
Wednesday: A 30% chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon, increasing to 40% in the evening. Partly sunny with a high near 60 and an overnight low around 42.
Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 56; 30% chance of showers during the day and 20% at night, with an overnight low around 35.
Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 56.
