Salvation Army expands

rent, utility assistance

The Salvation Army Williamson County Service Center ramped up its resources to meet the community need of rent and utility assistance, including the addition of six temporary employees to support the client financial assistance distribution through Dec. 30.

The Salvation Army is working with the Wilco Forward Phase III program, along with the Caring Place and the Round Rock Serving Center, to distribute $5 million in CARES Act funding for rent and utility assistance to county residents. The Service Center is also partnering with three agencies to assist clients who do not have access to a computer or need help with the required documentation.

• Community Resource Centers of Texas Inc., 155 Hillcrest Lane, Suite B, Liberty Hill, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. 512-548-5091.

ROUND ROCK

Cancer prevention

seminar Wednesday

“Healthspeak Education Series: Cancer Prevention” will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday on Zoom via Baylor Scott & White.

The presentation will feature preventative measures an individual can take to reduce chances of developing cancer.

Grieg center hosts

virtual gala Thursday

The Austin Center for Grief and Loss will host its Holders of Hope Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday virtually at austingrief.org to help secure the funding needed to provide the important services the center offers.

The event will feature a conversation between KLRU’s Judy Maggio and Alan Graham, the founder and CEO of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, as well as a silent auction. The silent auction is open through 6:30 p.m. Friday.

BEE CAVE

Exhibit focuses on

dark sky photography

The city of Bee Cave will present a dark sky photography exhibit following the theme “The Night Sky” from Wednesday to Nov. 14 at the Hive at Bee Cave, Suite T125, 12700 Hill Country Blvd.

Awards will be presented Nov. 13 at the closing reception.

The city will host the exhibit as it pursues the Dark Sky Community designation with the International Dark-Sky Association, which is the recognized authority on light pollution.
