Waste Connections, which provides garbage collection services to Rollingwood residents and businesses, will collect only rubbish stowed in individual cans or carts and won’t pick up any materials left outside of the bins through April 30. The change went into effect Monday.

The measure was taken in response to COVID-19 concerns and will ensure continuity of service in case the company’s employees need to be quarantined or are unavailable due to prolonged school closures, according to a news release.

The release stated that the “cart only” process reduces the chance workers could be in contact with solid waste by picking up discarded materials with their hands. Additionally, residential bulk and brush collection is currently suspended.

Residential trash pickup is Waste Connections’ highest priority service in case some services have to be delayed or temporarily suspended, the release stated.
