The Lower Colorado River Authority, which manages much of the water in the Colorado’s basin, said Wednesday it was going to partially open a floodgate on the Lake Bastrop Dam early Thursday.
Lake Bastrop Dam forms the reservoir on Spicer Creek about 3 miles northeast of Bastrop. The LCRA said it would partially open the floodgate at 7 a.m. “to maintain the lake within its normal operating range.”
The agency also said the flow rate would be below levels that would cause flooding.
The floodgate is expected to remain open throughout the day Thursday, the LCRA said.
