Friday forecast for Austin: Austinites will have to endure a rain-filled Friday before cool, sunny conditions come back just in time for the holiday weekend festivities.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 70% chance of rain, mainly after 1 p.m. Friday. Skies will remain cloudy throughout the day with a high near 53 degrees, according to meteorologists.
But precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible during the day, the weather service said.
Those cloudy skies will remain into the night, accompanied by a low of around 40 degrees. A 70% chance of showers will continue until 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the forecast.
It’s possible precipitation amounts at night will be between a tenth and quarter of an inch.

Christmas Eve: Mostly sunny with a high near 69 degrees and south winds blowing at 5 to 10 mph. It will be partly cloudy at night with a low around 49.
Christmas Day: Mostly sunny with a high near 73 degrees. Christmas night will be partly cloudy with a low around 47.
Thursday: A 30% chance of showers. Partly sunny with a high near 67 degrees.
