Just after midnight Wednesday, Kent Adan Silva became the first baby born of the new decade in Austin, entering the world at 12:40 a.m. to two joyous parents.
Silva was born at Seton Ascension Medical Center to mother, Emily Flores, of Buda, and father, Edgar Kent.
He weighed a healthy 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
And he’ll surely grow to love tacos.
Austin-based Torchy’s Tacos presented the parents with a gift basket and vouchers for a year’s worth of free tacos to celebrate Kent’s entry into the world.
Torchy’s chief marketing officer, Scott Hudler, called baby Kent “our newest Torchy’s fan.”
Not long after Kent’s birth, the second baby of 2020 arrived at 12:44 a.m. across town at St David’s Medical Center.
Sanniyah Morning was born 7 pounds, 7 ounces, to mother, Maranda Bishop, and father, Rahsaan Morgan.
Neither of the families were immediately available for interviews.
