Early voting starts Thursday for the Georgetown City Council District 2 runoff election on Dec. 15 between Shawn Hood and Lisa King.

The early voting location is at Georgetown City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St. Early voting dates are Dec. 3-5 and Dec. 7-11.

The early voting location is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 3-4, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 5, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 7-11.

The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail for the election is Friday. Applications can be requested at wilco.org/votebymail.

Mail ballots must be received at the Williamson County elections office by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

The election is on Dec. 15. The election day polling places are at City Hall and the First Baptist Church at 1333 W. University Ave. The polls will be open hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day.

The runoff is necessary because nether Hood, a 56-year-old architectural designer, nor King, a 54-year-old women’s boutique owner, received more than 50% of the vote in a three-way race on Nov. 3.

On Nov. 3, Hood had 1,682 votes, or 41%, while King received 1,904 votes,or 47%. Jason Wirth, a 49-year-old project manager for a construction company, finished third by receiving 488 votes, or 12%.

Hood and King are running for the council seat left vacant by Valerie Nicholson, who resigned in May because she was moving out of the district.
