Hays County is now reporting 79 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, up from 77 on Wednesday.

Of those cases, 24 people have recovered and eight have needed hospitalization, officials said Thursday. Two of them are still being treated in a hospital.

Adults between the ages of 20 and 59 represent the bulk of the cases. Hays County data shows ten people over 60 — the demographic most at risk of developing serious symptoms — and a girl under 9 have also contracted the virus.

Eight of the cases have been travel-related, officials said.

Four cases have been reported in the part of Austin that is in Hays County, 15 in Buda, 2 in Dripping Springs, 33 in Kyle, 23 in San Marcos and 2 in Wimberley.
