PFLUGERVILLE

Pfestival of Lights changed to drive-thru event

As with other events in the area, Pflugerville’s annual Pfestival of Lights will look much different this year. Pflugerville will kick off the holiday season with a drive-thru version of its annual holiday celebration on drom 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Pflugerville City Hall, 100 E. Main St.

City spokeswoman Maggie Holman said the annual parade is canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. During the drive-thru event, attendees will enter Main Street from Railroad Avenue before turning right onto First Street and entering Pflugerville City Hall’s parking lot.

The Pfestival will include decorations, holiday lights, a Christmas tree viewing, carolers and goodie bags. Attendees are asked to stay in their vehicles while driving down Main Street.

BUDA

City offers holiday light recycling

Buda residents can drop off holiday lights starting Monday through Jan. 10 at the Buda Public Library, 405 Loop St., to be recycled.

Remove clips, cardboard or other materials so that only the string of lights will be dropped off. No compact fluorescent or other light bulbs can be accepted through this program.

Lights can be dropped in a bin located near the outdoor book drop on the side of City Hall. The lights will be recycled through a vendor for proper disposal.

GEORGETOWN

Georgetown to hold Breakfast Bites meeting

The next Breakfast Bites meeting will be held at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at Georgetown City Council & Court, 510 W. Ninth St.

The presentation will cover the growing effect arts and culture are having in Georgetown, from building community to affecting economic development and cultural tourism, as well as creating collaborative partnerships between businesses and the arts

The meeting will include city and community updates.

CENTRAL TEXAS

Ronald McDonald House launching giving campaign

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas is asking donors to light up their homes in honor of families with sick children, since volunteers aren’t able to light up the Ronald McDonald House in person this year.

Donations of any size are accepted online. Yard signs will be provided to those who $250 or more within a 20-mile radius to encourage others to join the “Be the Light” campaign. ABC Home & Commercial Services, which has pledged to donate a portion of their holiday light installation sales to RMHC CTX families with sick children.
