Food bank distributes

free food Saturday

The Central Texas Food Bank will distribute free food using its mobile food pantries to help those who are facing increased food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Nelson Field, 7105 Berkman Drive.

Attendees will receive an assortment of food items depending on available supplies. To adhere to social distancing requirements, pickup will only be available to those in vehicles. No walk-ups will be allowed.

Sessions offered on

foster care, adoption

Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services will offer free information sessions about foster care and adoption at 2 p.m. Sunday, 8 p.m. Dec. 10, 4 p.m. Dec. 15 and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 29.

The webinars each explain how the system works, what families can expect and options for next steps.

AUSTIN

Black Film Fest

to be held virtually

The Capital City Black Film Festival will be held virtually this year with films available to be streamed starting Friday.

The 2020 theme is “Breakthrough: Unleash Your Power,” and it will explore the impact racism plays on the mental health of Black people, specifically Black creatives. The festival will feature various films, the opportunity to participate in filmmaker talkback after each screening and panel discussions.

Passes range from $15 to $65.

GEORGETOWN

Take holiday photos

with park donkeys

A holiday photo opportunity will be available from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Berry Springs Park and Preserve, 1801 County Road 152.

Attendees will be able to use their personal camera or cellphone to take photos with Lil Bob and Pedro, the park’s donkeys. The photos will be in front of the “donkey compound” at the barn by the first parking lot.

The opportunity is provided by the Friends of Berry Springs Park and Preserve, a not-for-profit organization that focuses its efforts in supporting the park.

ELGIN

Hot Cocoa Stroll

takes place Saturday

The Elgin Hot Cocoa Stroll will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Elgin featuring a sidewalk sale and activities.

Attendees can purchase a souvenir 2020 holiday mug to fill with locally made hot cocoa from Firewild and marshmallows from Murphy’s ‘Mallows. Locally owned businesses will be open with holiday specials and featured merchandise.
