A lack of rainfall over the past seven days has prompted Travis County officials to issue a burn ban for unincorporated parts of the county.
During its weekly meeting Tuesday, the Travis County Commissioners Court voted to implement the ban as low humidity levels increased the area’s chance for wildfires.
The ban on outdoor burning does not include:
– Prescribed burns conducted under supervision
– Outdoor welding
– Outdoor hot works operations conducted in accordance with guidelines from the fire marshal
– Cutting or grinding operations
On Tuesday, fire officials said residents should be extra cautious when grilling and barbecuing outdoors in the next week.
Residents should also keep water nearby in case of a fire, officials said.
