Since Amplify Austin’s launch Thursday night, Central Texans have raised more than $5 million for 760 nonprofit organizations participating in the 24-hour online fundraiser.

Amplify Austin, which started in 2013 and is produced by I Live Here I Give Here, this year aims to raise $12 million by 6 p.m. Friday – its biggest financial goal to date.

Nonprofits leading the way so far in donations include Hospice Austin with more than $300,000, Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area with more than $280,000 and YMCA of Austin with more than $240,000.

Austin Dog Rescue is an early leader among organizations aiming to raise less than $100,000. The nonprofit is about $1,400 away from accomplishing its $25,000 goal to help fund everything from vaccinations to vet visits. On Thursday night, a fundraiser benefiting the nonprofit featured a puppy kissing booth.

Central Texans interested in donating can visit amplifyatx.org, search for their favorite nonprofits or causes and make their contributions.
