taking applications

All Together ATX, a philanthropic effort to support communities experiencing economic and health-related hardships caused by COVID-19 in Central Texas, is seeking grant applications for its final round of funding.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Oct. 14. Grants will be distributed in early December.

The grants will focus on continued funding for basic needs and funding for nonprofits that are meeting other critical needs and/or facing operational impacts due to the pandemic. Proposals are sought to address food security, direct cash assistance and social supports related to COVID-19. Grants are also available for COVID-19 modifications and personal protective equipment for nonprofits.

The goal of this funding is to modify, intensify, and/or expand services to individuals and families residing in the five-county Central Texas region of Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties.

4,400 pounds of food

given to pet owners

Austin Pets Alive has announced the organization distributed over 4,400 pounds of pet food to 160 groups of Austinites in need on Sept. 19.

Austin pet owners who had been impacted by COVID-19 were invited to come to Austin High School and pick up a free bag of cat and/or dog food, via donations from Merrick Pet Care, for the rescue’s first-ever drive-thru pet food bank. The 160 cars served often had multiple pet owners, who owned more than one cat or dog.

The event was held in lieu of the organization’s annual fundraising event, the No Kill Anniversary Party, which celebrates the city of Austin becoming no kill in 2011.
