A man fatally stabbed his sister, who was possibly pregnant, inside a house near Pflugerville Friday evening, the Travis County sheriff’s office said.
Michael Egwuagu, 25, has been arrested and will be charged with murder, authorities said. His sister, who officials did not name Friday, died at the scene in the 16000 block of Vescovo Lane, which is just outside the city limits of Pflugerville.
Deputies responded at 4:57 p.m. People reported to investigators that the woman was pregnant, said Kristen Dark, sheriff’s office spokeswoman. Investigators are awaiting the autopsy to confirm that.
“Efforts were made to save her life and the life of the unborn child, but ultimately those efforts were unsuccessful,” Dark said.
Dark was unsure Friday what Egwuagu had used to stab his sister, whether Egwuagu or his sister lived at the house, and whether anyone else was inside the house at the time.
“We’re talking to other family members,” Dark said. “We’ll continue to gather those details tonight and start figuring out what happened.”
