6:15 a.m. Thursday update: A woman who was reported to have been kidnapped at gunpoint Wednesday night in West Campus has been found safe, Austin police said early Thursday.

Police did not say whether anyone was arrested, but said the incident was related to a domestic dispute between two people who know each other.

Officials said the incident appeared to be isolated and did not represent a threat to the public.

Wednesday: Authorities are investigating a Wednesday night report of a kidnapping in the West Campus area.

Austin police received around 7:46 p.m. a report saying a man wearing a red hoodie and driving a black sedan kidnapped a woman at gunpoint near the intersection of 24th and San Antonio streets, University of Texas police officials said Wednesday. The vehicle was last seen traveling east toward Guadalupe Street.

It’s unknown whether any people affiliated to the university are involved, UT police said.

Austin police is investigating the report and is asking people to call them at 512-974-2000 with any information about the case.
