The new coronavirus is likely spreading through Hays County, where five people have now tested positive for the virus, county officials said Wednesday.

Four of the people recently traveled outside Texas, but one person — who did not have any known contact with the other four people — did not travel, Hays County officials said.

A person who has tested positive for the virus had contact with Tobias Elementary School in Hays County on March 11, according to school district officials.

“The health department has stated the risk of transmission is low for those on campus, but they recommend that all staff and students on campus monitor themselves for symptoms until March 25,” the Hays County school district said in a statement. “The recommendation from the health department is monitoring only. At this time, there is no recommendation to quarantine or isolate. If symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath do develop, you should isolate from others and call your primary care provider or the health department if you do not have a primary care provider.”
