Starting Wednesday, Whole Foods Market locations in the U.S. and Canada will allow people 60 years and older, among the most vulnerable to the new coronavirus, to enter the store earlier than the general public.

The grocery chain said it will provide service to adults who are 60 and older one hour before opening to the rest of its clients.

“We are setting aside this time to help these customers, who national health authorities have identified as among the most vulnerable to COVID-19, feel more comfortable shopping our stores and helping to ensure they are able to get the items they need in a less crowded environment,” the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Whole Foods also said it will start closing two hours earlier to give its staff time to restock shelves, sanitize stores and rest.

The stores will remain open for pickup and continue to deliver Amazon Prime orders, the company said.

Texas grocery chain H-E-B has also recently changed its hours to allow for time to restock shelves. All H-E-B stores, Central Market and H-E-B pharmacies are opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m.
