Thursday forecast for Austin: Happy Thanksgiving, Central Texas!

The holiday is set to be warm and sunny, providing ideal conditions for anyone planning to have outdoor, socially-distanced Thanksgiving celebrations.

The precipitation potential will remain at 0% throughout the day, forecasters said, with a high of 78 degrees set to be reached around 4 p.m.

The chilly morning will feature temperatures in the low 50s with mostly cloudy conditions and humidity around 70%.

The National Weather Service said that as sunny conditions take hold in the afternoon along with rising temperatures, so will a west wind blowing 5 to 10 mph. The wind will blow to the south and southeast later in the afternoon.

Sunset will occur around 5:30 p.m.

Moving into Thursday night, the National Weather Service said a low of around 61 degrees is expected, with increasing clouds and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 a.m. A south to southeast wind around 5 mph is expected in the evening.

The forecasted high of 78 degrees is 10 degrees above normal and the forecasted low of 61 degrees is 14 degrees above normal, according to climate data. Nov. 26 in Austin usually has a high temperature of 68 degrees and a low of 42 degrees at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and a high temperature of 68 degrees and a low of 47 degrees at Camp Mabry, according to climate data.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted throughout the weekend, bringing much cooler temperatures according to the weather service’s extended forecast:

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy with a 70% chance of precipitation, a high near 68 and a nighttime low around 54. A north-blowing wind is expected between 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Rain amounts are expected to be between a quarter to half of an inch.

Saturday: More showers and thunderstorms possible during the day and before midnight. Cloudy with an 80% percent chance of rain during the day and a 40% chance of rain before midnight. A high near 59 and a nighttime low around 42 is expected with a north to northeast wind blowing around 10 mph.

Sunday: Sunny conditions return with a high near 60 and a nighttime low around 39. Wind gusts may reach as high as 25 mph blowing to the north.

Monday: Cool, sunny conditions with a high near 54 and a nighttime low around 33. Wind gusts as high as 25 mph to the north.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 62 and a nighttime low around 39.

Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 61.
