The Cedar Park Police Department is raising money through their Blue Santa Program to provide toys for families in need.

“This year has been exceptionally challenging for many families in our community,” police said in a written statement.

To limit physical contact with donated items, police are encouraging monetary and gift card donations this year.

Donations must be received by Dec. 7.

To donate, visit bit.ly/2UU5LCj.

People can also drop off cash, gift cards or checks, or mail a gift card or check. Checks should be made payable to CPCPAAA (Cedar Park Police Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association).

Please do not mail cash. The mailing and drop-off address for Blue Santa monetary donations is:

CPCPAAA, ATTN: Blue Santa Program

c/o Cedar Park Police Department

911 Quest Parkway

Cedar Park, TX 78613

Families in need may still register at the Cedar Park Police Department at 911 Quest Parkway. Registration must be done in-person, but forms in English and Spanish are available at cedarparktexas.gov/bluesanta, to complete in advance of the in-person registration Monday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The toy distribution day is Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 19.

“In recognition of this difficult year, the Cedar Park Police Department is excited to announce its partnership with local nonprofit group Gracie’s Canned Goods to collect holiday canned food items,” police said.

Suggested canned items to donate are vegetables, fruits, stuffing mix, pumpkin, biscuit or roll mix, canned or boxed potatoes, gravy, yams, boxed pie crust and fruit filling.

Drop-off locations for canned goods are the Cedar Park Recreation Center at 1435 Main St. and the Cedar Park Public Library at 550 Discovery Blvd.
