Food Bank sets

distribution events

The Central Texas Food Bank will distribute free food to help those who are facing increased food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Travis County Expo Center, 7311 Decker Lane; Saturday at Del Valle High School, 5201 Ross Road; and Monday at Toney Burger Stadium, 3200 Jones Road.

Attendees will receive an assortment of food items including protein, produce and dairy products, totaling between 60 and 66 pounds, depending on supplies.

At the Monday event, the Austin school district will distribute seven-day meal packs for any child under 19, or those over 19 who uses special education resources or who is enrolled in school to complete the requirements for a high school diploma. Parents or caregivers may receive meals without children present by providing documentation.

To adhere to social distancing requirements, pickup will only be available to those in vehicles.

on public safety

The city of Austin is seeking resident input on reimagining public safety for the city.

Virtual meetings will be held representing each City Council district. To register to attend, visit austintexas.gov/publicsafety/share-input.

Mission to give out

meal kits Saturday

El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission, 7000 Woodhue Drive, will distribute holiday meal kits from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday as part of its annual Hands for Hope event.

The event will benefit 1,750 local families by giving them kits featuring a turkey or ham, pie and traditional Thanksgiving sides. Those receiving food during the drive-thru event will also receive information on other services provided by El Buen and partnering organizations.

Registration is full, but to donate to El Buen or to find other Thanksgiving meal resources, visit elbuen.org.

HAYS COUNTY

Veterans office

offers telehealth

The Hays County veterans service office and the Samaritan Center Hope for Heroes Program are reestablishing their counseling services partnership using online telehealth appointments.

Samaritan Center will provide the equipment needed to facilitate the online appointments. The equipment will be at the Hays County Courthouse, 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos. Veterans can come to the courthouse for their telehealth session, which will be in a private space.
