Thursday forecast for Austin: Layer up, y’all! The day will start cold, then get warm in the middle before finishing off chilly, the National Weather Service said.
While it was 35 degrees at 6:25 a.m. at Camp Mabry, forecasters said temperatures will rise throughout the day, peaking at a high near 62 degrees.
Warm temperatures coupled with sunny skies during the day will make last night’s freezing temperatures just a thing of the past!
On Wednesday night, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport recorded a low temperature of 29 degrees and Camp Mabry recorded a low of 39 degrees, according to climate data.
Freezing temperatures should no longer be a threat to Central Texas and the Hill Country after 9 a.m. Thursday, the weather service said.
Skies will be clear at night as temperatures decrease to 40 degrees, forecasters said.
Temperatures will warm up on Friday, ahead of a sunny weekend, according to the weather service’s extended forecast:
Friday: Sunny with a high near 71. Mostly clear at night with a low around 44.
Saturday: Sunny with a high near 72. South winds blowing 10 to 15 mph in the morning could have 20 mph gusts. Partly cloudy at night with a low around 56. South winds will be blowing 10 to 15 mph.
Sunday: Partly sunny with a high near 78. South winds blowing 15 mph could have 25 mph gusts. Mostly cloudy at night with a low around 62.
Monday: Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain and a high near 77. South winds will be blowing 10 to 15 mph. Mostly cloudy at night with a 50% chance of rain, mainly after 7 p.m., and a low around 61.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain and a high near 74. Partly cloudy at night with a 40% chance of rain and a low around 49.
Wednesday: Sunny with a 20% chance of rain and a high near 76.
