CEDAR PARK ― The Cedar Park City Council has approved incentives to help a brewery/coffeehouse expand and also bring the headquarters of a California construction/consulting business to town.

The council OK’d on Thursday an $80,000 incentive package for Red Horn Brewery and Roastery and a $112,500 incentive package for WEXCO.

The incentives for both companies are based on the number of jobs they bring. Red Horn Brewery and Roastery expects to add 15 jobs by Sept. 30 after it expands to an 8,000-square-foot facility it will be leasing at 1615 Scottsdale Drive at the Scottsdale Technology Center in Cedar Park.

Red Horn will spend $1 million finishing out the facility, according to a statement from the city.

The business opened in 2015 at 13010 West Parmer Lane, Suite 800, in Cedar Park. It has just renewed its lease at the Parmer Lane location.

“With the support of the community and dedicated employees, we’ve been able to build a foundation that has allowed our small business to grow,” said Jon Lamb, the owner of Red Horn in the city’s statement.

WEXCO expects to hire 25 people by Sept. 30, 2022, at the new $2 million regional headquarters it will build at 13625 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Building 2, the city said.

The average annual salary will be $65,000.

WEXCO is a construction consulting, management safety and engineering corporation currently headquartered in Marina Del Rey, Calif.

It employs three people at a small office on East Whitestone Boulevard in Cedar Park.

“It is with great pride that WEXCO, with the help of city leaders like the Economic Development Corporation, has chosen to focus on long-term growth and corporate development within this city,” the company’s engineering manager, Kelly Golda, said in the city’s statement.

The incentives for both businesses come from 3/8ths of a cent sales tax dedicated to economic development in the city.

The city expects to be paid back the incentives it has offered the companies through sales taxes, property taxes and the increased business the new employees will bring to Cedar Park.
