Two people were hospitalized and two dogs were killed Friday morning after a Northeast Austin house fire, Austin Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters responded at 11:36 a.m. to the 9800 block of Halifax Drive. The fire was “heavily involved” when crews arrived, and firefighters had the fire under control by 12:30 p.m., fire officials said.
Medics took the two people to Dell Seton Medical Center with injuries that are not life-threatening, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said.
The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to the structure and $100,000 in damage to its contents, fire officials said. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
