The Cedar Park Police Department is investigating a robbery of a United States Postal Service worker on Saturday morning.

Police said the robbery happened around 9:41 a.m. at the mailbox collection area in the 1900 block of Yaupon Trail near West New Hope Drive and U.S. 183.

Police said in a news release that they believe there were at least two people involved in the robbery, and one is described as being a younger man, about 5-foot-6 and clean shaven. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white, four-door sedan.

Police and the United States Postal Inspection Service are both investigating the incident.

Robbery of a letter carrier is a federal offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison, according to police.

In a Facebook post, police said people should be aware of their surroundings when checking the mail, not leave mail in their mailbox overnight and consider dropping off outgoing mail at a post office or USPS blue collection box.

There is a reward of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Anthony Bridgewater at 512-260-4886 or send an email to Anthony.Bridgewater@cedarparktexas.gov.

People can also call the United States Postal Inspection Service hotline at 877-876-2455 or visit the website at uspis.gov/report.
