One person is dead and four others were injured Wednesday night after a vehicle reportedly went into a construction zone in North Austin, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said.
EMS said the crash happened in the 12200 block of North Mopac Boulevard (Loop 1) at 9:46 p.m.
It was immediately unclear whether the person who died was one of the pedestrians or in the vehicle. EMS issued trauma alerts for the four other patients, with one of them being transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with critical life-threatening injuries.
Medics said the driver of the vehicle was pinned inside and crews were currently working on extricating him.
Southbound Mopac is closed near Parmer Lane, the Texas Department of Transportation said in a tweet. Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area.
