AUSTIN (KXAN) — In my latest “What’s Driving You Crazy On Your Drive?” I look into the construction zone at S 1st St and Oltorf St.
It’s a very busy intersection in south Austin. As of Friday morning, there are multiple lanes blocked, as well as sidewalks blocked.
The City of Austin said it’s an emergency repair job by Google Fiber.
The city said the right-of-way team issued a permit on Aug. 23 for a construction contractor to move Google Fiber from a damaged pole at the intersection to a newly installed pole. Crews are also replacing the pole riser and removing the old, damaged pole from the site.
The permit issued expires next week, on Sept. 23; however, the city didn’t have an exact date on when the work would be done and when all lanes and sidewalks will be back open.
If you ever have a traffic issue you want to report, or if you have something driving you crazy on your drive, reach out to me @ericabrennestv and I’ll look into it.
