AUSTIN (KXAN) — Last year, the New Braunfels Convention and Visitors Bureau launched a “Float Forecast” to keep the public updated on river conditions and the best ways to float this summer.
Tanya Pence, the bureau’s president, said that people need to know about river conditions amid a four-year drought. Knowing about the drought is important because some may think there might not be any water in the Comal river or the Guadalupe.
The forecasts also cover floating safety tips, as well as information on proper hydration, sun protection and proper footwear for floating.
And, the forecast isn’t just for those wanting to float — it’s for tubers, kayakers, paddleboarders and those who just want to hang out in water chairs.
New Braunfels gets a lot of overnight visitors from nearby metropolitan areas who want to escape the big city for a more tranquil afternoon on the river, Pence said.
