BUDA, Texas (KXAN) — US Foods is breaking ground on its 170,000-square-foot expansion to its distribution facility on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a project that’s expected to bring more than 150 new jobs to the area.
The company provides foodservice distribution to restaurants, hospitality, and hospital foodservice operators across the country. It has had a presence in Buda since 2011, according to a press release from US Foods.
According to the release, the expansion was a total investment of more than $120 million. It received a grant of nearly $1.1 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund last year, which encourages companies to select sites in Texas.
The facility expansion is expected to bring 165 new jobs to Buda.
US Foods leadership and local government officials, including Buda Mayor Lee Urbanovsky, are expected to be at the groundbreaking event, which is scheduled for 12-1:30 p.m.
