AUSTIN (KXAN) — Travis County Sheriff’s Office leaders cut the ribbon to open the new, state-of-the-art forensic facility on the Travis County Correctional Complex campus Wednesday.
TCSO said its forensic services and evidence repositories had outgrown its East Command.
“This secure facility is designed to accommodate tools and scientific processes associated with today’s technological advancements in crime scene evidence analysis,” TCSO said.
According to the sheriff’s office, its forensic services employees typically respond to between 25 and 30 crime scenes per month.
Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez and Travis County Judge Andy Brown attended the ceremony.
“The new forensic services building represents more than just a new facility—it’s a reflection of Travis County’s commitment to justice, innovation and public safety,” Brown said. “As crime evolves and tech advances, it’s critical that our tools and systems keep pace.”
