AUSTIN (KXAN) — A quiet stretch of weather is forecast for Texas, with warmer-than-normal temperatures, but some parts of the country are entering an active weather pattern.
Several low-pressure systems will bring heavy rain and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and the East Coast this week.
Summer Returns?
High-pressure ridging will bring warmer-than-normal temperatures to the Southwest and South Central parts of the U.S., including the Lone Star State.
Closer to home, high temperatures are forecast to reach the mid to upper 80s. Rain chances are minimal through next weekend in cities such as Austin, Dallas, OKC, Wichita, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
Active Weather
Low-pressure systems will steer around the high-pressure ridging, bringing heavy rain to states such as California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho mid-week before moving east toward the Midwest next weekend.
Next weekend looks interesting, as several computer models suggest the possibility of severe weather on parts of the Southeast, with heavy rain and snow for the Midwest and Northeast.
Tropics
The tropics are quiet in the Atlantic Basin with no named storms expected in the next seven days. Hurricane season is ending in just a few weeks.
