AUSTIN (KXAN) — Have you caught any episodes or TikTok clips of NBC’s newest reality show, Destination X?
The fantasy-meets-adventure-meets-mystery competition show started with 10 contestants who embark on the “road trip of a lifetime,” per NBC’s description of the show.
The catch? They don’t know their location, and in order to win, they have to figure it out.
Clips of the show have circulated on social media since the premiere episode aired in May. One contestant in particular has generated some internet buzz thanks to her… honest intro.
“I’m here primarily for ego reasons,” Mack Fitzgerald said. “I want the public validation that I am better than anyone else.” She also said her strategy was to ally herself with “the dumbest person” and gain their trust to later sacrifice them for her benefit.
A TikTok video about her intro that was posted last week has been viewed nearly 950,000 times. Posted by user talkofthetownsends, the caption reads, “You’ve got to appreciate the honesty…”
Fitzgerald is one of three contestants from Austin. The other two are Ally Bross and Rachel Rossette.
Fitzgerald, originally from Dallas, is an attorney from Austin, Texas, for the state legislature, according to her bio on NBC’s website. According to the bio, she graduated from college at 20 years old, earned her doctorate at 24, and was in the top 17% of her law school class.
“Mack claims she knows how to navigate fake friendships, power and strategy from her experience working with politicians. At first glance, people may see an easygoing personality and nomadic spirit, but there’s more to Mack than competitors might see,” the NBC description said. “Well-educated and incredibly persuasive, her whip-smart knowledge in math, science and geography can be used to her advantage to win ‘Destination X.'”

Perhaps Fitzgerald’s opposite, at least on a surface level, Rachel Rossette, originally from Orlando, presents herself as a “sophisticated southern belle with extravagant style,” NBC described. But there’s more under the surface.
“Rachel is a prime example of not judging a book by its cover,” her bio reads. “With a nearly perfect SAT score and a degree in history, she has an extensive knowledge of world geography and an obsession with pop culture… Rachel’s strategy is to downplay her intelligence and athletic abilities until it’s time to compete.”
Unfortunately, Rossette didn’t make it past episode 3.
That leaves Ally Bross. Also originally from Orlando, Bross has degrees in political science and religion, and she’s now a full-time travel influencer based in Austin, according to NBC.

“Fueled by her desire to be a student of the world, Ally spent an entire year visiting 32 countries across all seven continents,” her bio reads. “After travelling extensively, she’s confident in her ability to recognize cultural landmarks and geographical clues.”
Bross and Fitzgerald still remain in the competition as of Tuesday.
The show airs on Tuesday nights and is available to stream on Peacock the following day. The next episode airs today (June 24) at 9 p.m. Central Time.
