AUSTIN (KXAN) — Some roads in downtown Austin will shut down Saturday ahead of the 35th annual Austin Pride festivities.
The parade starts at 8 p.m. along Congress Avenue from 11th Street to Cesar Chavez. Roads in the area could shut down as early as 1 p.m., according to organizers. Most streets are scheduled to reopen no later than midnight.
“With over 400,000 attendees in previous years, we’re turning up the volume on love, activism, and the power of community,” the Austin Pride Foundation said about the event.
Organizers previously said this year’s celebration would look a little different due to “the current political climate” and funding.
The event is free and open to the public. This year’s theme is “Silence = Death.”
