AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Hays County man is facing a murder charge after a 17-year-old girl died from a fentanyl overdose, according to a Travis County affidavit obtained by KXAN.
The affidavit revealed the man to be 19-year-old Jaden Elijah Sendejo.
Sendejo does not currently have an attorney listed in his case. When he does, KXAN will reach out to his attorney for a statement.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the 17-year-old was found unresponsive, face down in her bed, by her older sister on the morning of Sept. 18. Shortly after EMS arrived, she was pronounced dead.
When officers were searching through the teen’s room, they were able to find a small cut straw containing a white and blue powder residue. It was field tested and tested positive for fentanyl, according to the affidavit.
After TCSO searched through the teen’s phone, they were able to find an Instagram chat between her and Sendejo. The conversation revealed that the teen was being sold counterfeit Percocet by Sendejo.
According to the affidavit, current drug trends show that Percocet is being counterfeited and pill-pressed with Fentanyl.
Authorities said between Sept. 1 and Sept. 17, the teen had purchased Percocet pills from Sendejo six times and several times told the teen how strong they were and how to consume them.
In February 2025, TCSO filed its first fentanyl-related murder warrant since HB 6 took effect against Noe Arrellano-Perez, now 22, accusing him of selling fentanyl to a 22-year-old man who died due to the toxic effects of fentanyl, cocaine, ethanol and quetiapine.
On Oct. 8, 2025, Arrellano-Perez accepted a plea agreement. In exchange for a guilty plea, the 1st degree felony murder charge was dropped and Arrellano-Perez was convicted of third-degree felony manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance causing death and was sentenced to eight years in prison with 403 days of credit for time served, according to court records.
