AUSTIN (KXAN) — As Texas women’s basketball gets ready to begin their 2025-26 season on November 3, their five-star freshman Aaliyah Crump is already making a name for herself off the court in the Austin community.

While Madison Booker, Rori Harmon, and Vic Schaefer were in Birmingham, Alabama for SEC Media Days, the No. 5 player from the class of 2025 was giving back to the girls basketball team at Navarro Early College high school.

“I just want to be that empowerment for them,” Crump said. “It was really important for me to give back to this community and show them that I support them and want to encourage them to do the best that they can this year.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Crump and her mother Ashley Wolf gave away bags of goodies to the local high school. Bags full of shoes and apparel from New Balance were given to the group of Vikings. In 2023, Crump became the first high school athlete under Klutch Athletics to join the New Balance brand.

“They’ve just allowed me to really be myself and do these things, like give back to my community.”

In her short time with the Vikings, Crump left a lasting impression with 11 student-athletes.

“It gives me hope that I can achieve what I want to achieve,” junior Kaitlyn Simmons said. “[It] makes me feel like all the effort that I’m putting in, isn’t going to waste and seeing somebody who actually is in that position is inspiring.”
