“For the past four years, input from survivors of gun violence, frontline responders and community members has played a critical role in developing policies aimed at reducing gun violence,” a news release from the summit said.

The summit featured a series of panels hosted by gun violence survivors, first responders and community members who discussed solutions to prevent gun violence.

“We believe there has to be community-led solutions to preventing violence in our communities, and there has to be community-led solutions to intervening when violent incidents occur. So all of us today that you see in this room are making up that ecosystem that helps us to support the work of preventing violence across the county and in the city of Austin,” said Sherwynn Patton, co-founder of ATX Peace.
