LLANO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A Llano County inmate who reportedly escaped from a hospital Monday was recaptured, according to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office.
A release from the sheriff’s office said the inmate, 41-year-old Robert Clark, was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Llano after complaining of chest pains just after 10:30 a.m.
A jailer went to the ER with Clark. The sheriff’s office said hospital staff asked for Clark’s restraints to be taken off for a CT scan.
Clark then ran out of unsecured doors, the release said, and was chased by the jailer. The jailer fell and received injuries to their face. They were treated and released from the hospital.
The sheriff’s office said Clark then convinced a resident who lived nearby to give him a ride to Kingsland. The driver’s wife gave a description of the car to deputies.
A deputy saw the car and stopped it before Clark was taken back into custody. The driver wasn’t hurt.
Clark originally was in the Llano County Jail on Sunday for a parole warrant out of Wise County. Formal charges are pending for felony escape from custody for him, the sheriff’s office said.
