AUSTIN (KXAN) — Multiple first responder agencies are expected to be in southwest Austin beginning Sunday to participate in active shooter response training held by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT).
The training will occur at Barton Creek Square Mall from 6 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday. Both the inside of the mall and the parking lot will be used for the training, according to ALERRT.
First responders with Austin-Travis County EMS, the Austin Fire Department and the Austin Police Department are expected to be present.
“In addition to first responder vehicles, there will be simulated firearms, simulated casualties, and bystanders,” ALERRT said. “The training will also include the use of drones that will only be used at the mall.”
