AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas wasn’t just on the ropes against Mississippi State on Saturday, they were face down on the mat and about to take the 10-count after receiving a beating for three quarters.
But then in the fourth quarter, they got back up and started landing punches.
KXAN’s Noah Gross and Billy Gates discussed how the Longhorns turned a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit into an improbable 45-38 overtime win over the Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium in this installment of Instant Analysis.
Backup quarterback Matthew Caldwell came into the game for one play in overtime after Arch Manning had to be helped off the field following a 13-yard scramble, and Caldwell made the most of his opportunity. He connected with Emmett Mosley V for a 10-yard touchdown for the go-ahead score, and then the Texas defense sacked Bulldogs quarterback Blake Shapen on fourth down to seal the win.
