HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — On Tuesday, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office provided more details related to a SWAT callout in Dripping Springs that happened over the weekend.

On June 22, around 1:20 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 600 block of Terrace Canyon Drive. The person was “described as acting aggressively with neighbors and causing a disturbance in the area,” according to HCSO.

That person was later identified as Nathan Nattin, 41.

As deputies were on their way to the scene, residents nearby “reported hearing gunshots and an explosion,” according to HCSO. When deputies were on the scene, they were shot at once, officials said.

Hays County SWAT, Crisis Negotiations Team, the Drone Team and detectives were requested to assist with a callout, according to HCSO. Nattin “has a history of assaulting and attempting to assault law enforcement, resisting arrest, harassment of public servant, and weapons-related charges.”

The SWAT callout lasted nearly two hours, and he eventually exited his home and was taken into custody without incident, according to HCSO.

Officials obtained a search warrant for Nattin’s home and found “multiple firearms,” marijuana and “Psilocybin,” or mushrooms. A bullet hole was also found in a neighbor’s home. HCSO said “no explosive devices were found.”

Nattin was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance and deadly conduct discharged firearm at a habitation, according to HCSO. He remained in the Hays County Law Enforcement Center with a total bond set at $560,000.

HCSO said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) is also helping with the investigation.

If anyone has information on the callout, they can contact Hays County Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip at 1-800-324-8477, submit the tip on the Crime Stoppers website or the P3 Tips app or email Detective David Maddocks at david.maddocks@co.hays.tx.us.
