TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said Tuesday that it would investigate a fatal crash that happened on State Highway 45 just before 8 a.m. that morning.
DPS said that the crash only involved a Chrysler PT Cruiser that was heading westbound on SH-45 near Turnersville Road.
The car “left the roadway to the left and rolled several times,” according to DPS. The agency said it does not yet know what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to the crash. It reported on social media that the driver, an adult, was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency responders performed CPR, but the driver ultimately died at the scene.
As of 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, the driver’s identity hasn’t yet been released.
As part of the investigation, one lane of eastbound SH-45 was closed for several hours. Drivers heading that way should expect delays.
