AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas running back CJ Baxter has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Florida with a hamstring injury, but the Longhorns will get the other half of their dynamic running duo back.
Quintrevion Wisner, who hasn’t played since the season opener against Ohio State, will play after being left off the latest injury report from the Southeastern Conference. He rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries against the Buckeyes in a 14-7 loss on Aug. 30 in Columbus, Ohio.
Wisner had been listed as probable on earlier reports.
Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian said he hoped both backs would be available for the SEC opener in Gainesville, but Christian Clark, Jerrick Gibson and Arch Manning can help spread the carries around, giving the offense the balance it needs.
Wide receiver Emmett Mosley V, a sophomore transfer from Stanford who hasn’t played this season due to a leg injury, is expected to suit up. He’s listed as probable on the injury report and could provide Manning and the Texas offense another quality target in the passing game.
Defensive backs Kobe Black and Xavier Filsaime will play, but Malik Muhammad was downgraded earlier in the week from probable to questionable and is now a game-time decision. The final injury report was updated 90 minutes before the game’s 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.
