AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police said early Tuesday morning that its homicide detectives were investigating after a 911 caller reported finding two bodies in a relative’s apartment.
APD public information officer Corporal Matthew Nonweiler briefed journalists that the 911 call came in Monday around 8:23 p.m. The caller said they had went to an apartment in the 2400 block of Ashdale Drive. When the caller entered the apartment, they found “a body that they suspected was not alive.”
They then called 911.
When officers arrived, they located that body and another, both with “apparent trauma” and “were obviously deceased.”
APD homicide detectives received a search warrant for the apartment early Tuesday morning, Nonweiler said. The briefing occurred roughly an hour after detectives gained access to the residence.
This is Austin’s 29th homicide of 2025 and could be its 30th, Nonweiler said.
“They’re currently executing that search warrant to try to determine what’s going on with these two deceased bodies,” he said.
The PIO said he did not yet have releasable information about the victims. He said that APD believes the incident is “an isolated incident with no threat or risk to the public at this time.”
